Well, I received my AT9 yesterday which I will be self-installing. Quick question for the gurus -- are the (rough) tilt and elevation settings the same for the AT9 as they are for the Phase III? I ask because I don't yet have the HR20 that will go with this dish, so I can't look up the settings in the receiver for my zip code. I was just going to set it to the same settings as my Phase III as a starting point (can't try it yet though, as I don't have the mounting pole ...)

Thanks for the quick replies! Do you know of any online tools where you can enter a zip code and get the numbers? Even though I don't have the HR20 yet, I was gonna get this thing all set up, and connect it to my HR10 while I waited.

I can't do it from my office but I'm sure if you post your zip code someone would be happy to punch it in to their HR20 and give you all your settings.
If someone can do that without messing up their system, that would be cool. Numbers for 95831 is what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

No, they're totally different. That's because the Phase III is centered on the 110-deg W satellite while the AT9 5-LNB dish is centered on the 101-deg W satellite.
I thought it was centered on the 103. 99 & 101 on one side, 110 & 119 on the other.

Nope. It's aimed at 101-deg W. The main LNB arm then "sees" the 99, 101 and 103-deg satellites, while the attached LNB arm "sees" the 110 and 119-deg satellites.

Let us know how it goes! Honestly, I think the complexity of this overstated. Looking at the installation videos, it looks like a piece of cake. As long as the mast is plumb, the rest is easy, though I wouldn't want to do it standing on a roof. I've put in C-Band dishes -- now THAT is a chore!

Do you have a signal meter, or are you going to use the receiver for alignment?

Just as a side issue, I have great signals on the 101, 110, and 119 sats, and at least one transponder in the 80s on either the 99 or 103, and the bubble level shows my pole as leaning slightly forward and to the right.

I think maybe the pole was not cut straight, I don't know.

Now don't scare me! Have the old meter and will be using the receiver for alignment. Will put it beside the my oval dish so, if I don't do it right...I'll still have NFL.

Be sure not to connect the meter directly to the 110/119 LNB, but to one of the outputs of the LNB/switch assembly. D* says connecting directly to the 110/119 will cause damage.

I was wondering about that -- if you're using a pole that somebody cut, how can you be sure that it was cut straight? I don't think there's any way to know. Just gotta hope for the best I guess.

As an experiment, I was checking the mounting pole that comes with the AT-9 with the included bubble level and a fence-post level -- when the bubble level indicated that it was dead on, the fence-post level indicated it was leaning slightly. That's a little disconcerting. The pole I ordered has an inner-diameter that might preclude me from sticking the bubble level into it, in which case I might have to use the fence-post level. If it's wrong, I'm hosed.
