Hello everyone!

I have been experiencing audio and video drop-offs on my locals in the Atlanta area. I have two HD boxes and 3 SD boxes coming in from the dish. I have noticed that the drop-offs only occur on the HD local channels but not the SD local channels.

Now that tells me that I may need a realign on my dish to get better HD signal strength. However, I don't know what to look for in the signal strength side to check this out to make sure before calling D*.

One last thought....When the installer came to put the HD dish up he only used a single monopole. Would that fact allow me a service call that may be free?

Thanks for any help...

I haven't experienced any issues since earlier in the year. ABC seems to have the most technical issues but haven't seen any lately. What channel is it and then I'm sure someone can offer some advice on either alignment.

Also, have you rechecked your connections? The SD signal may get through a loose connection but will likely have issues with HD (though this would impact all your HD channels most likely).

I havent checked any connections. The connections on the dish are a little hard for me to get to and the connections to the multiswitch are in the furncace closet inside the house so they could not come loose. I will check them later just to see.

No issues here at all for Atlanta, but it could be that the times I was watching were different than you were.

I am pretty happy with the way hd is being handled in Atlanta, except for one minor issue with the CBS affiliate, CH46. We have had a lot of weather lately resulting in a lot of programming interruptions for weather information. When CH46 runs weather "scrawls" on their screen they drop out of HD to SD to do it, apparently not having equipment to do it properly. Not a technician so don;t know the details but the other 2 majors in Atlanta seeem to be able to handle the same thing without difficulty.

god this forum is great... i'm having the exact same problem and not only do i find people talking about it, but in the same market as me!

i was in the same boat until just a while ago. i've only noticed audio drops on the local channels, and it seems like it started within the last couple of days or maybe about a week ago. i've noticed it on most of the channels, but it seems to be prevalant on channel 36

i just did a soft reset and the problems seems to have cleared up. we'll see if it lasts.

After not having any audio glitches for the several weeks I've been back in the ATL DMA for the summer, I did notice a couple in the last few days. Nothing continuous, just a "brrrrr" here and there. Don't remember which local it was, most likely 46.

I don't think that is just WGCL 46. Whenever the little map/radar bug or crawl is up, on any except WXIA 11, there is no HD. Even WXIA 11 sometimes drops out as during NBC Nightly News they would run a blurb about the Feb 2009 cutoff and they dropped out of HD every night that crawl would run.

I had a black screen on sat HD WXIA (11) for most of the day on Sunday. Went to my parents house for dinner and they had the exact same problem. All other HD locals came in fine.
The problems Sunday are tied to other things (I work for WXIA/WATL).

We moved from our long-time facility on West Peachtree St. to a new building off of Monroe Drive (over near where Piebar used to be), and Sunday was the primary moving day. We're still having a few minor issues (the newsroom was a zoo last night, as it was Sunday night), but things ought to settle a bit over the next few days.

I get the same "brrrr" a few times an hour on WSB (Ch. 2) over the last couple of months. Not a big deal. Just kind of annoying. Not sure of the cause. I've done a couple soft resets and the problem persists. I've learned to live w/ it.
