I've had this problem since day 1 of going to HD. The macroblocking on my 1080i mpeg4 locals (NBC and CBS) is driving me nuts. The PQ on everything else is great.....

1) Mpeg4, 780p (Fox, ABC) locals.....Great!
2) Mpeg2, 780p (ESPN, ESPN2)..... Great!
3) Mpeg2, 1080i (HDNet, Discovery HD, Universal HD, etc.)..... Great!

The macroblocking can be so bad at times, I just go watch my SD tv. Fast moving pictures (sports, etc) are the worst.

Two questions,

1st Do others in Atlanta have this problem? (My guess is yes.)
2nd Will it ever be fixed? (My guess is no.)

Welcome to the Beta club. I'm experiencing the same thing here in Tampabay, FL. Most of the time the picture on my HD locals looks very good but once in a while the NBC affiliate goes bunckers with green macroblocking. Some day DTV will fix it. BTW, I'm on my 3rd HR20 because everytime I call DTV that's their solution.

Here in Cleveland we have the same problem with 19-CBS. NBC-3 was fixed two weeks ago. It may take sometime for whatever reason before they are fixed.

I haven't had any issues with my locals here in Austin other than Lin owner the NBC affiliate. I have watched football and baseball on all the locals carried on D*.

Green macroblocking is the worst.... Unfortunately, football fields are usually green. Football is the biggest reason I went hi-Def to begin with.
