can someone explain to me why the audio is so low during "live" concerts & other live music programs on the audience channel? its only the music shows on that channel. its a joke. I cant get an answer from direct tv customer service.
makes no sense. we have to turn the volume up 4x just to hear it. thanks :nono2:

Well, in some defense of that channel, which I record a LOT of music from, it has an amazing amount of dynamic range on the concerts, and Guitar Center Sessions.

The first noticeable result of wide dynamic range, is a much lower average sound level, since the loudest passages in the entire show are the peak, which is what MOST music channels run compressed to make them "sound louder".

Switching the channel from Dolby Digital to STEREO (on your amp or dvr) will boost the volume back up a bit. Otherwise, just be happy you invested in that high power amp and efficient speakers, and be glad they dont run commercials that blow your speakers out in the middle of the concert :)

thanks for the reply. I just get a little nervous turning my amp up that loud. I really cant enjoy the sound the way they have it. the only way I might do some damage is when I forget to turn the volume back down when returning to another channel. I suppose they didnt think of that!!

btw..I use to listen to other live concerts with my other provider with no problems. The audio sounded great. I spent alot of money on my home sound and really cant enjoy concerts on that channel .
thanks again
