Were any of the latest software updates supposed to fix the audio dropping out? I know I have the latest update (30s slip is MUCH better), but I still have had audio drop out a few times. Does the standard, odd static-like beep then goes silent for several seconds.

My box was reset, I assume the update required it to. Heard a noise like the system clicking on and off, so I turned it on to see it telling me I needed to reset.

Anything else I need to do to get the audio fixed or is it still on the "To Do" list?

There are so many different things that cause the audio issues...
With a vast majority of them being broadcast/reception related.

I do get the "urrrr silence" every once and a while... not on any sort of repeating basis...

So are they working on it... yes, they are working on updating the encoding centers and some of the error handling in the box.

Earl is the "urrr silence" you refer to like a distortion/grinding noise followed by the drop out...that is what I am experiencing.............

I had as many as 40 audio while watching Brothers and Sisters on my Local ABC HD MPEG 4 station. When I switched to ABC SD I experienced no drop outs

I have noticed with the last update the audio drop happening more. Not sure what this means, but if i go to guide and i am slidding through a day of shows just browsing etc. I noticed when im doing that the sound keeps going off. Could it be a matter of time slicing? All the processing is taken for the guide and not enough power left to show video/sound in upper left corner? I never noticed this issue till recently (im on east coast and didnt get the update 2 weeks ago) but since the current one its had this problem. Just HDMI to the TV (no speakers or reciever) this happs with dd on or off.
