I am getting so frustrated with the audio (and sometimes video) dropouts I get on my locals. If happens on both the SD and HD broadcasts, and whether I'm using HDMI or component, recorded or live.

I know others have seen this, I've matched the exact same dropout with other HR20 users, but my other standard DirecTV receivers connected to ReplayTVs don't have the dropouts.

So what gives? It seems like this is HR20 related since it doesn't happen on the other receivers, but if everyone else saw the same number of audio dropouts I did, I would think there'd be a lot more complaining about it.

I have the exact same problems in the LA area. Have posted many times before hoping that D* would fix the problem on a future update. Still waiting and hoping.

I've had these problems in LA all along as well, more on KNBC (4) than any other. It was happening with regularity during the 7:00 hour, and I confirmed several times (by watching the OTA feed, PIP) that the problem was coming from the broadcaster. I'm not saying that every dropout was from the broadcaster, but many were.

It seems to me (just by observation) that there has been some work done at KNBC since they have toned down some of the excessive sharpening in their SD-to-HD upconverted programs. I've also noticed fewer dropouts since early December during the 7:00 hour.

However, I noticed several dropouts during the 12/24 broadcast of "It's a Wonderful Life", pretty much at the end of every commercial break in the 8:00 and 9:00 hours. That's got to be the broadcaster's fault.

Slightly off topic: Has anyone else noticed that KTLA (MPEG-4 feed channel 5, as well as OTA 5-1 and 5-5) has much more bass than all the other channels?

I haven't had any HR20 related issues with local HD broadcasts. Any dropouts (and there's only been a few) have been broadcasting issues. I'm quite happy now with the HR20's OTA HD capability - it's at least as good as my old H10 was.
