That would probably depend more on the Onkyo. Make sure, if you want Dolby 5.1 or whatever, that the Onkyo can support it on the HDMI and/or the optical. Since they are both digital, they should both sound pretty good.
Audio
Is there a difference if I have the audio come from HDMI? I currently have my D* connected to my Onkyo via Optical. Just wondering if the sound is better.

No. HDMI can potentially carry some recent audio formats that optical cannot, but D* doesn't give you any of those formats, so there is no better sound when using HDMI audio.hdthebest said:Is there a difference if I have the audio come from HDMI?
