The remote that came with my HR21-100 is a RC64R. The batteries are low and when I replaced them with Duracell or Energizer batteries the remote does not respond. I noticed that the Philips batteries that came with the remote look slightly different from Duracell or Energizer AA batteries. The Philips batteries have a positive end that is a tad bit longer and has a raised point in the middle while the others have a flatter, lower positive end. Has anyone else had this problem and if so any solutions?

Thanks

All my 64Rs work with Duracells or any other battery. I just looked and there doesn't appear to be any way to adjust the contacts for the batteries. You do have them both in correctly? The negative side goes in first and then the negative side of the second battery goes in second. You wind up seeing the positive end of the last battery inserted.

Both batteries must go in the same way.

Had the same problem with the RC64R. One of them worked fine after a battery change, but the other one would always give me problems. I ended up having to take out the batteries and insert them about four or five times, turning and pushing the batteries until it would finally start working. I'm not sure if it's a bad contact on the upper or lower end of the remote, but something is wrong. We started using the rechargable AA's and they seem a bit bigger than the non rechargable's. They fit much tighter in the remote and now it works fine when changing the batteries, even after the first try.

Huh. Something new every day. All the 64Rs I've put batteries in have always worked perfectly. :eek2:

Thanks for the input. I did have the batteries inserted correctly and there was no corrosion. The previous RC64 I had (sent it back with defective DVR) had no issues so I think I just got a remote with crappy contacts. I'll try some rechargeables and request a new remote as well.
