Dr.Who was on Sci-Fi Ch and on my 65 incher looked great for SD.mreposter said:Just and FYI for BBC fans - Dr. Who is NOT shot in HD, so even if the network goes HD, the show won't really change. The guy that runs the show has said the special effects would be too expensive in HD.
Well, that gives them until Dec 31 at 11:59pm to make something happen - that's quite a window.oldcrooner said:Emails from them over the past several months always say:
"Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We appreciate your interest in seeing BBC America in High Definition and are thrilled to report that we hope to launch this channel in 2008. At this time, an exact launch date is not available, but please rest assured that we are working tirelessly to bring you this service in the very near future."
Hopefully they'll get going soon as 2008 is slipping away rather quickly.![]()
While Who isn't in HD, it should look great in widescreen (it's native AR) and upconverted. As it is, I can't stand watching Who on Sci-Fi HD because it is window-boxed.mreposter said:Just and FYI for BBC fans - Dr. Who is NOT shot in HD, so even if the network goes HD, the show won't really change. Boxing Day, maybe?Tom Servo said:Well, that gives them until Dec 31 at 11:59pm to make something happen - that's quite a window.
Torchwood is in HD on HDNet so you don't have to wait for BBCA-HD to get it in HD.ahintz said:Torchwood, BTW, is HD and looks fantastic. Would love to get it in HD on BBCAHD.
That was my thought. I don't know if Robin Hood is done in HD or SD but either way it's letter boxed widescreen when broadcast as SD. An up-converted HD widescreen has to be better and I wouldn't have to change the display mode to crop =).ahintz said:While Who isn't in HD, it should look great in widescreen (it's native AR) and upconverted. I'm pretty sure Robin Hood was done in HD because it was on The 101 recently and looked pretty good.evan_s said:That was my thought. True - though I haven't heard if series three will be on HDNet. Wouldn't surprise me if BBC Worldwide didn't sell separate HD rights if there was going to be a BBCA HD channel to air it on.bonscott87 said:Torchwood is in HD on HDNet so you don't have to wait for BBCA-HD to get it in HD.![]()
Robin Hood was in HD on the BBC HD channel in the UK, and as was mentioned, was also shown in HD on The 101. Looked great!evan_s said:That was my thought.
