OK.

So a couple weeks ago, DISH came out and indeed installed a Dish 1000.2, a VIP722, and a botched (322, I think).

The VIP722. It was in 'Dual Mode' When I first sat down. Its connected to my TV in the living room, then via that little antenna its connected to the TV in my bedroom, which is about 5 feet away, and through 2 layers of drywall. ANYWAY, So, I watched TV for about an hour, then I wanted to watch 2 programs. So, I hit record, and it began to record my current program, but when I tried to change channels, it asked if I wanted to stop recording. I hit NO. This happened about 8 times.

Then I switched it to single mode. And it did the same thing. So, I resided to just watching what I was recording. Another hour passes by (and now we're in single mode), and I try to do the record/change channel again, and it tells me that I cant change the channel because TV2 is in use. I happened to know that I was not in my bedroom, and TV2 was off.

So, WTF?
What am I doing wrong?

first off.. the little antenna is the UHF antenna for TV2 remote. Based on how you are describing things I don't think you are in single mode yet. Did you press the mode button on the Receiver to get you into single mode? Just having TV2 off does not put you in single mode. Couple of questions to ask your self.

1) Am I either watching TV in the living room or the bedroom or will there be cases where I watch in both. IF 99% of the time it is a either one or the other then keep your 722 in single mode.

2) In single mode you should be able to watch something while recording something else no problems. If this is not the case, You are most likely in Dual Mode and I would suggest reading the manual and the tips section on the top of the 722 support forum. Also there is a card that describes record plus. If you are going to run your DVR in dual mode I highly suggest reading the help card so you understand how things work in dual mode.
You should also check under preferences to make sure the shared view is enabled. If it is disabled, tv1 only has access to one tuner when in dual user mode.
Try reading the manual it isn't a Directv receiver so you need to adjust to the different operating system.
I did walk up to the receiver, and pres the little button. There are 2 icons, one of them shows 2 boxes (1 layered over the other), and has the number '2' next to it. I assume thats Dual mode.
The other has a single screen, and has the number '1' next to it, I assume that's single mode.
That being the case, the receiver is currently set to Single mode. I was only commenting regarding my bedroom TV just to note that I never even tried to use it during this whole process.

I understand that the little antenna is a UHF antenna, and it appearantly sends a signal from my VIP722, to the TV in my bedroom.

I dont know if Shared View is enabled, I know I did see that item but I dont recall wether it was enabled or not.

I dont have the manual, and to be honest, I didnt even look to see if the manual was here. Nor did I bother to download the manual. Rather than confusing myself, I figured I would just directly ask the question.

Ive decided to give this a try, seeing as that, aside of the rare occurance that I have a guest, I'm the only one in this house. And most of my TV watching is in the living room. Since the living room and the master bedroom are run off the same receiver, I doubt I'll ever experience a time where I need to have both TVs on at once.
(Now, if this were my other house... I'd be paying out the yazoo for more 722's, because atleast 2 live tuners in 3 rooms at any given time...)

Then single mode is definitely the way to go. Next time this happens.. Press DVR twice and see if you have two shows currently being recorded. That is the other reason you would get this, but other than that you should not get this while in Single mode.
Thanks for the time and advice y'all. I will try this out the next time I get a chance. I just realized I had another question but I'll search the forums first.
the UHF antenna does not send signal to your other tv. It is used so your remote for tv2 can communicate with the reciever.

Ya, a separate coax line goes from the box to the second tv, the antenna receives the signals from the second remote.
