Best transponders to "tweak" Dish to.

I had an install a few days ago. When the guy was on the ladder he called and ask when signal was highest. It hit 90-107 on a few transponders so I said "that's it". After he tightened everything he did not run the test again, everything "looked" good, so I didn't worry about. Decided to check signal today, and all are between 60 and 75 now (very sunny day). So I plan on tweaking.

What's the best transponder to check for each SAT 61.5, 110, and 119? I'm not having any issues, but did lose signal 4 times during rain the other day; I assume the higher I can tweak the signal the less chance of losing it...

I also want to add a long bolt in the center screw holes... I told him I had the rafters marked and he didn't bother to put a long bolt into a rafter  So I'll definately need to tweak things after I do that.

Just finished a new 61.5 installation. The weakest transponder seems to be 32 and I tweak on that one.
Thanks. What's a good signal to expect (on 61.5-32)? I notice an on-screen message that they just changed something on the menu that makes the indicated signal less than it use to be. If I get say 70 on the weakest transponder, should I expect 90-100 on good ones?

On Transponder 32, using a 20" dual feed antenna, I got 32 in western NC. On the 30" antenna I get 52 on a VIP211 with the 'modified' meter.
what kind of reciever do you have. If it is new than you are most likely looking at a modified meter. Check your signal screen again and see if it is flashing this meter has been modified. If it has than 60-70 is good. I still don't know what the purpose is but it is usually about 30 points less than actuall strentgh.
That's good to know, mine says "new" meter...

61.5 mostly 50-55
110 mostly 60-65
119 mostly 60-65
spotbeams 70-80

Think I'll mess with the 61.5, although if really 30 points higher, I guess they're good.
OK, got up and tweaked both Dishes today. Man, if you have a choice, have the installer drop off the dishes and do it yourself! One bracket was 4 degrees off vertical! He used 1.75" screws without pre-drilling (so my 2x8 facia cracked in one spot), he didn't use the center holes (which would screw directly into a rafter)... anyway, I put a 3" center screw in each bracket (actually heard the facia tighting up to the rafter)... so all is secure. Not much change in my before and after readings though, so he did a good job finding the signal.

61.5 Pre-tweak: 50-64 after 50-64 (73 and 86 on spotbeam)
110 Pre-Tweak: 51-64 after 53-68
119 Pre-tweak: 57-68 after 65-78 (88 on spotbeam)

The crooked bracket was on the 110-119, so I believe that's why that improved. If these number are really 25-30 higher because of their new "meter", then not much more I can do, except enjoy all the new HD without pixalization.

Well yes and no,but 61.5 trans 12 is at 96 witch is great?, i have really no rain fade issues eather but my number one problem is that since they put encore HD on trans 21 = 57 at 61.5 that channal goes out first, but it has to be a heavy heavy heavy rain storm. What is your signal level trans 21 at 61.5. My 2nd problem is with trans 2/21 at signal 55-57 with a 30'' dish it must be where i'm at. any one in the s.florida area that confirm trans 2/21 signal levels readings thank you
I never checked 61.5 T21 until now... it's only 40 on mine, definatly the lowest of all. Channel looks good. Haven't had any rain since the day they installed it, but I'm sure that's the one that will go out first. Thinking about making 2 favorites lists, my favorites on 61.5 and one for 110/119. That way if something goes out I can switch to the other SAT easily. "Odds" are that rain is more concentrated in one direction (unless it's a real downpour), the two SAT's are 90 degrees apart... What is 2/21 as opposed to just 21? Are there two 21 transponders?

correction just 21,now i don't feel that bad, i thought these 30'' dishes were a wast of money?but a great asset for more signal ratio.
For some reason, TR 16 just dropped below 50 (modded) for the first time using a VIP211 and 30" antenna. TR16 now takes last place behind TR32.
