Over the next few weeks, there will be construction at my house and many times I will want to turn off the circuit the DVR is plugged into, if not the entire house. What's the best way to power down? Should I do a menu reset and before it starts to restart, pull the plug?

I have read many posts suggesting the procedure you mentioned, might be a good idea, but I'm not really sure it really matters. In the aftermath of hurricane Wilma, mine must have restarted several times a day because my generator was shut down at night, for re-fueling, etc., with no problems. I do have them on UPS's but they are really only good for a short time, so rather than run the batteries dead, I would just pull the plug. There are countless power interruptions around the country daily and I'm sure not many people have battery back up on their DVR's.
