I have a few friends that are considering leaving Dish because they want ST Max.

Dish has offered them HBO free for a year and discounts to bring the price down towards the original price.

Any chance DTV would match the Dish offer and give them free HBO for a year? Or are new customers just locked in on the 3 months trail thing of all the movie channels?

Does DTV reach and give Dish customers better deals as opposed to someone who doesn't have any service and then joins DTV?

All they need to do is to nicely call D* and explain that they're thinking about switching to dish and explain the offer and why they want to switch. Depending on the status of their account you never know what they'll offer.

Nope but if you do the referall they would get $10 off for 10 months which would help reduce the cost of HBO. However there are not promotion to match competitors or to pull people from specific competitors.

Just make sure if you do the referal to do it through the proper channels and make sure it's on the order confirmation.
