If DirecTV is using 18 Inch DISH for their Englush Channels, why would they decide to use the big ugly 36inch for international channels?

Same thing with DISHNetwork.

Has to do where the SAT's are for the International Channels.
The type of transmission that comes from those Sats... power and frequency type.

And actually "now" for the "English" channels, to get all the SATs you need a dish that is larger then the international dish.

The Satellite at 95 is a FSS satellite, it has a lower downlink frequency than DBS satellites and a lower broadcast strength. Because the signal starts off weaker it requires a larger dish surface to collect enough signal to process into a picture.
