Watching the biggest loser right now on the HR-22. It's in SD. It's stuttering here and there.. every once and a while some pixelation

I hope i'm describing this correctly. Basically the picture sorta just freezes for a few seconds and you here this buzzing noise. It happens super quick.

Now last week i was getting all sorts of bad signal levels from all transponders. I had a service call with an "HD specialist" who fixed that by replacing the LNB and giving the dish another alignment.

Everything seemed fine, but now i notice issues again. No where near as bad as it was and just very slight.

Is this just something you live with when you have direct TV? When i had comcast none of these problems. Sure i got hardly any HD and the HD was crappy... but i never had this studdering and pixelation problems..

So what do i do? Do i have them come out again? What can they do? I can't make it happen all the time? And all they will look at is the signal stregth, and that all looks pretty good.

I'm a bit frustrated.

I get this sometimes, especially on NBC. I don’t get any pixelization, but I do get the audio buzz – it sounds like the effects scene from The Matrix when Neo takes the red pill. I think it’s a local affiliate problem (or maybe D*’s feed from the local). Our local affiliate broadcasts their nightly news in HD and for some reason, it *always* does this at least once during the weather segment. I think they have some bad equipment that’s not keeping up with the digital encoding. Unfortunately, my wife has had us watching TBL tonight, but there has been no stuttering, so it’s not a network issue.

so i watched house.. it was from the dvr. I counted a total of 4 little pixel problems. Each time nothing major...

So what the hell? Is it something with my locals? I had it happen on HBO the first time.

I just want my TV to work ... is that so much to ask? What do i do here?

by the way .. seemed to have missed the last 10 seconds of house.. probably the network had it go an extra min and direct tv didn't know about it. Well that just sucks. Any know what wilson said to house at the very end?

We had similar problems last night, across two different OTA channels (Miami and West Palm), and the DirecTV channel (West Palm sourced). By that, I'd guess the problem was with NBC

I haven't watched House yet, but I did watch Fringe that was recorded right after it and I noticed that the first 10 seconds was the ending of House. I skipped through it to prevent the spoiler. We'll probably watch House it tonight. So, you'd know if you had recorded Fringe (and you really should - it's an engaging show, IMHO) :biggthump

Yeah, but “Lost” is from ABC and “Fringe” is from FOX. Don’t blame FOX for ABC’s dragging it out. ;) Oh, and for the record, my guess on “Lost” is that it ends up all being someone’s weird dream while in a coma or something like that (sort of like “Newhart”, but with less humor).

OK, I was poking around some other threads and there seems to be some common transcoding issues between MPEG2 and MPEG4. Maybe this is the problem. I do remember very early on when we first got our HD locals this would happen regularly. The stuttering came with a regular cadence. I had no clue what it was then, but I did make some calsl to D* and my local station and within a few weeks, it went away.

Hello......

I am having the same issues here in Detroit with NBC WDIV Channel 4. During Saturday Night Live, we experienced that buzzing issue and then my wife informed me that she iheard that same buzz when watching another show on the same station....and now she is watching America's got talent and it is ocurring again!

My wife thinks this is also happening on other stations too....but not quite sure.

So this is a station issue? I have never had any issues with this station before. I wonder why the buzzing started so recently?

Any thoughts??

I've noticed it a lot lately on NBC too, specifically the HD channel. Last night it seemed to happen once a minute or more, and it was getting annoying to the point of just wanting to turn the TV off. I have not noticed this on the SD channel or on any other HD networks.
