Blackberry?

787 Views 12 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  turey22
Hi All,

My wife wants a new cell phone. The things she wants to do with it (besides the main function of talking on it) is to check her email (hotmail) and browse the web.

Is the Blackberry good for this? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

not really. hotmail has to be checked throught the web browser, and blackberrys aren't known for web browsing. what service carrier do you have?
I have an ATT 8310 Curve Blackberry and it's very easy to use for email and browsing. I get my ATT and Gmail and work email w/o any problems. The GMail SMTP and comes through almost instantly. I can't speak to HotMail, sounds like Kenkong586 has covered that though.
I have had the 2nd gen iPhone and now I have the 3rd gen iPhone and I have no complaints whatsoever. I can't put it any better than what my friend said about his iPhone "Its the best thing I ever bought"! I highly suggest the iPhone although the blackberries are very nice.
I love the blackberry. I have a pearl and use it for web daily, albeit mostly WAP sites. If mobile web is really what you want, iPhone. Though problems do plague iPhone users.

If you can't get push email on bb, it's not going to happen on iPhone either. You can with "Premier" hotmail for a fee, though this site claims some veteran hotmail (5+ years) users get POP access free.

Time to upgrade to better email with free POP/IMAP? (i.e. gmail)
Note with BBs that many times you can get email forwarding service that will allow you to still get your email from any account, even hotmail, through the BB interface.

For emails and such in a smartphone, nothing really beats the blackberrys. Web Surfing is better on the iPhone, still not perfect though.
If you have some serious BB questions, check out http://www.blackberryforums.com

Nothing beats a BlackBerry for e-mail. And it has great battery life, also.

I have had hotmail since 1990 and they do not give me pop for free. I actually just switched to gmail.

You can get hotmail to you phone but you will need to setup your hotmail to be forward to another email, i use my att blackberry email. but in order to do this you have to purchase hotmail plus for 1995 a year.
haha someone already answered what i posted but i also named the hotmail wrong, its premier i guess lol

We've got Qwest service but they recently have switched their cellular service bundle to Verizon. Verizon doesn't offer the iphone but it does the Blackberry.
blackberry's are great phones...i do email, msn, yahoo, and i wish it could just transform into my car. lol

i recommend it to anyone that ask but it takes forever to boot back up...worst than the HR2X
