blown receiver?

600 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Stuart Sweet
A storm recently moved through, power was out a couple minutes. When power was restored, my sd receiver worked but my hd receiver wouldn't. I reset several times and unscrewed and reconnected cables at both the dish and receiver. Nothing, just shows the big dtv logo and searching for satellite. The csr told me they could not schedule an appointment at this time because they are updating the computers. Any ideas? I have a high dollar surge protector too. If it is fried, I might just move up and get the hddvr

I would start by unplugging the HD receiver for several hours. Also you might want to move the SD receiver in where the HD receiver was to see if it's the wiring. If the HD receiver still fails after being unplugged for a while then you're right, it may need to be replaced.

Computer updates at DIRECTV don't take very long so you'll probably be ok should you need to call again.

Also after the "above", you might want to try it without the BBC on the SAT input, in case it was "what took a dump".
An excellent suggestion, VOS, well done.
