Been having problems with blocking and pixalation since I've had my HR20 (around 1.5 weeks) and it seems to be on the higher channels.

D* has already been out twice and each time problem seemed rectified when the guy left. Last time I think he changed the little round thingys on the satellite that point at the dish (at least that's what my S-in-law told me, since I was at work)

Anywaysssssssss.. Noticed problem again tonight while I was trying to watch C=Span, and than on one of my HBO channels.

So I went to setup to check signal meters. Meters on both tuners were boucing around like crazy, from low 50's to 80 to Not acquired. (By the way, I have never had a signal on either tuner higher than 81, even when everything was working perfectly.)

While I'm looking at these crazy meter readings I notice that the blue ring of lights on the front of the unit are circling like mad, and are fading in and out.

After I exited setup and went back to watching TV on stations that came in good, the lights stopped circling and stayed solid.

Any ideas what this might mean?

The center ring responds to what you are doing. It will fade in and out when you are paused etc..

If your 5-LNB dish was installed on a rooftop it may NOT have the required two extra braces (called monopoles) that keep the dish from leaning back and forth, losing lock on the satellite signals. That is the main cause of signal reception problems with the new 5-LNB dishes. These are larger and heavier that the old small dishes. If the support mast foot is NOT firmly bolted directly to a joist, it will move around and have even fallen over when the lag bolts pull out of the plywood underlayment on the roof.

Wow. Thanks, I think..LOLOLOL!

The dish is installed on the side of the house, and has only one monople for extra support. I can definitely understand how the missing one would shore it up alot. I will give D* a call and see if I can get someone out here to add the additional brace.

Interesting, after the watching the Cowboys game last night, painful as it was, the HR20 didn't want to behave and go to standby. Then I noticed the blue circle was fading in and out, and a rotating kind of flashing.

It didn't clear itself up by this AM so I reset it. Seems to be working properly now. Is this a New Bug?
