Lost all but the on/off button. How to get them back.

Old news. Change channel to non sports Chanel. Push the left and right buttons in the receiver at same time. That should cycle the blue lights
Push the left and right button at the same time.
If the above suggestions don't work, try resetting the DVR.
I remember when the popular question was how to turn them off...not on.

The circle is complete.
I still wish this was an option that could be set via a settings menu
Yeah, it would be nice - set and forget; now after each reboot you must cycle thru all the (four ?) levels again
Both options will work to get the lights back... although i did not know about the first option till i just went and tried it...
Is there any way to adjust the brightness from the remote?
Nope.

But it is a nice easy way to know if the box rebooted.

I was reaching for the HR that was just installed and the installer asked me what I was doing. Went like this:

I(installer)--What are you doing?

Me--Turning off the front panel lights.

I--Can't be done.

Me--Watch.

I--What did you do (I placed myself in front of him and didn't let him see what I was doing)? I didn't think that was possible.

Me--How long you been with D*?

I--3 months

Me--What did you do before that?

I--Pest control.

Good times!!!

Only thing it's good for. The blue ring, I mean. The 20-700s are much brighter than the 24s. I'd rather see progress bar info there. Like a BD player.

Or one other alternative is to just wait for an update from D*. Unfortunately, those always turn the lights back on. I would love to have a way to keep them off. But, as noted, every update from D* turns them back on. I gave up.

He spent an hour after he was done picking my mind for "other neat stuff". The only training he had gotten was two weeks (I think that's what he said) of classroom training and riding along with a more senior installer for another two weeks.

Hard way to learn a job.

I actually wondered about that. He was the second straight pest control installer I had come to the house.

I always turn the lights off on my HR23 as it's in the bedroom.
But, the lights on the living room HR24 don't bother me.
