Guys,

New at this did a search didn't find anything. I have and HD DVR and on top of it I have my Bose small center speaker. Is this okay since the Bose should have a shielded magnet or would you remove from the top of the HD DVR?

Thanks,
Andy

I have had my Sony center channel speaker on the rear center of my DVR since I got it. No issues yet.

At the very least, move the speaker to the front of the DVR and don't block it by other items. The clarity will be greatly improved.

The hard drive is in the front and the sound is fine, the mic for the surround calibration was placed in the middle of the bed(thats out beroom tv). I would keep the space clear but I have a wife ;)

Placing anything on top of a DVR is never a good idea, regardless of what it may be, although stacking DVRs is permissible if you limit it to 2 or 3 units. Placing something magnetic on top of a device that contains magnetic media is a really bad idea, regardless of whether it's supposed to be shielded or not. Placing a Bose speaker in a home theater environment is not conducive to a quality surround setup. It's just a matter of common sense.;)

He is happy (and his wife) with the way everything sounds. Could it sound better? I am sure, but just because one person is not as picky as some of us, doesn't mean its wrong. The man and is wife are happy! Nuff said!

I think the speaker is interfering with the data being displayed for caller ID...

The sounds of gun shots, bombs and other explosions could introduce vibrations into the drives magnetic heads causing a crash or variations in magnetic reading strength. But, we talking Bose not a 500 watt subwoofer.

Actually, he never said he or his wife are happy with the sound (or anything else, for that matter). You're only making an assumption based on missing information. You must be another one of them fanboys that thinks everyone should like Bose.

Actually, I don't like Bose or his set-up, but the poster said the sound was "fine" If he is happy and it makes his wife happy? :)

I was referring to the OP's comments, since it's his thread, and not rahlquist. Besides, rahlquist only said he has a wife and offered nothing about her state of mind or level of contentment.:D

"Fine" was the original OP's comment. He inferred his wife was happy or what he was doing made her happy :)

Are you even in the same thread as I am? The OP (i.e., AndyDirectv) has never even mentioned his wife in any of the above posts as they currently exist. If he has edited any of them it is not evident and I lost the keys to my wayback machine so I have no way to see if they've been altered in the past.

The use of the word "fine" with respect to the sound was made by rahlquist in post #10. Here's exactly what he said with reference to his wife:

I would keep the space clear but I have a wife
I agree that what you're saying implies that rahlquist inferred that his wife was happy but the point is, I was never referring to rahlquist's comments. You obviously got him confused as the OP (i.e., Original Poster).

OK, the horse no longer has a pulse so I'll put away all my blunt objects.:D
