By default, your Bose system probably uses RF for commands and you will need to set it up to respond to IR commands. See page 48 of the Bose manual.

First the bose LS 38 is IR controllable, but the oem remote is RF only. So to get the IR commands into your learning remote, the bose receiver emits them so learning remote can capture it. Without a learning remote, you have to rely on a preset code. You might try code 31933.lugnutathome said:First off I do not have this Bose product. What I did was look up the manual online and have determined it is entirely possible you cannot do as you desire.
In the manual it refers to an IR EMITTER on the front panel of the media center (not an IR receiver window like most components would have) secondly for the remote room usage it referrs to additional remotes.
I believe your system has an RF system that controlls other IR based devices by emitting the IR codes from its font panel in true Bose direct/reflecting fashion. It is assumed by the Bose engineers that their system will be the basis of your "lifestyle" entertainment operations and it is built to manage it and not be managed by other devices.
At least that is what I gleaned out of looking through the manual quickly. You might check it on how to register additional remotes and see if that states IR anywhere.
