any idea what might be causing this? part of a recent upd8? this happened twice in the last 48 hrs. recordings that had been set-up went through without issue.

It's the new Power Save function that's part of the update (the one that also includes Pandora). If it bugs you, its easily fixed. Menu >> Settings and Help >> Setting >> Power Saving >> Off.

I'm unclear on how much power it's supposed to save.

Thanks, it was starting to freak me out, like ghosts or something.

In testing it was shown to save, at most, 1w. Depending upon what unit you have you save as little as .25w and as much as 1w. Not much savings at all.

All the power save feature does is put your unit into standby after 4 hours of no activity. It's the same as you pressing the "PWR" button.
