Box Issues this week.

So the other day I had to reset my box as all my recordings were going straight to the Delete option and there weren't fixable. So after I lost all recordings from December 2 to December 6 everything seemed to be okay. I fell asleep today on the couch watching HBOH and when I woke up the only channel that my satellite could recieve was HBOH. No local channels, no anything, all the channels were showing Searching for Signal (771) except HBOH. So I reset the box hoping this will fix the issue and everything looks good until the box gets to acquiring guide info. I step out to go do some food shopping and when I come back I am still at the acquiring guide info screen. Going to try another reset, anyone have any ideas what to do?

Sounds like the box isn't getting any signal from the dish.
Any reason that would be happening? I checked all the wires and everything is secured. Possibly wind? The box upstairs isnt working either. Talked to DirecTV and they decided that my dish got out of alignment. Earliest they can get out is the 19th!!! 11 days without D*. They really know how to treat their customers.
Do you hav a multiswitch involved in your setup? If so... by pass it, and see if you are still getting a signal.

If not... then it is possible something happened to yoru dish outside.
Bump, read the edit earl. Do you by chance know anyone I can talk to about getting this atrocious situation cleared up quicker.

Sadly, no...
It is very much based on local installers...

Honestly check your local Craig's list and see if you can find someone that "does it on the side", or try to do it your self (if it is convient). Not like you can screw it up any more then it is.

While doing it, I would directly connect the box to the dish.
It's possible the dish might not have been tightened down to the mast securily. See if you can turn the dish left and right. With someone in the house monitoring the signal on the TV communicate via cell phone, yell out the window etc.. to let you know if the signal returns. If you can move it do it very slowly. It doesn't take much movement for it to have no signal strength, have high signal strength levels, lose signal strength again.
Well tomorrow after work if the weather isnt too frigid I will get out there with the ladder and see if I can move the dish around a bit.
