I've noticed that 610 is still the only Big Ten channel listed on the guide so far for Aug. 30th. Anybody know what the "extended" channels will be and who is playing on which ones?
Nope, keep an eye on bigtennetwork.com and they will have the listings w/ channel numbers when it is available.

From an e-mail I received 8/15/2008

The Big Ten Network now resides on channel 610 as part of a system-wide realignment that includes other sports networks. The Big Ten Network will continue to be available on DIRECTV's CHOICE package.

DIRECTV will continue to offer additional football games on "overflow" channels. The primary "overflow" channels will be 609 and 612. Additional games may also reside on channels 608, 611, 615, 617 and 623 when necessary. When produced in HD, DIRECTV will carry each "overflow" game in HD as well. Check your on-screen channel guide or BigTenNetwork.com for specific game assignments throughout the season. based on the 5 games at noon on 8/30...

Sat 8/30 Western Kentucky Indiana 12:00 p.m. Big Ten Network
Sat 8/30 Maine Iowa 12:00 p.m. Big Ten Network
Sat 8/30 Youngstown State Ohio State 12:00 p.m. Big Ten Network
Sat 8/30 Coastal Carolina Penn State 12:00 p.m. Big Ten Network
Sat 8/30 Akron Wisconsin 12:00 p.m. Big Ten Network

I would guess that OSU will be on the main channel and the other 4 will be on the overflows

What would be logical is if they made the overflow channels 610-1, 610-2, 610-3, etc. Of course they'd still have to mirror the overflow channels on nearby channels as they do now since older, non-Directv branded receivers can't accept dashes. These nearby channels could be set up so they're only seen by older receivers in the same way that older receivers show their locals in the 900s.
