I did not think about the IN options, is there a Component or HDMI in on other recorders in this price range (190.00).

There isn't a whole lot of benefit to component versus S-VHS. You would have to change your output mode to 480i to record via component.

There are a handful of component input capable DVD-Rs out there. They run upwards of $250. Some of the units are known to be very poor. None of them are capable of better than SD, but a couple of them can do widescreen.
