I live in an extremely rural area in SW Colorado. We moved here 9 years ago and when we did, we wanted NFL Sunday Ticket so we subscribed to DirecTV although cable was available. The ONLY reason we went with DirecTV was NFL Sunday Ticket because there was cable available in the neighborhood but having ST was what we were after. Two years ago I added a subscription to YouTubeTV because I got tired of DirecTV losing signal every time we had heavy rain or snow. I have 15MBPS broadband service behind YouTubeTV and it works great. With Sunday Ticket done for the year, I called DirecTV last week to terminate my service. They offered me $60/mo off my bill for 12 mos if I stayed. So after 12 months, then what? I rejected the offer and continued with my request to cancel service.

I was paying $223/mo with ST on DirecTV, $173/mo during the off season. We watched three weekends of NFL playoffs on YoutubeTV and it was perfect. No glitches, no buffering during streaming, just as YouTube TV has been for us since we added it two years ago. We are now 100% streaming for all of our TV and love it! My total monthly bill for all of the streaming is less than $100/mo and we don't want for anything to watch.

Dumping DirecTV was one of the best things I ever did!

I agree with you that YTTV works fine with no buffering and a excellent picture quality. For the past few years, I've been switching from DirecTV during the NFL season, to YTTV in the off season. By putting DirecTV on vacation hold for 6 months.

Now that DirecTV will no longer carry NFL ST. After 15 years, its time for me to do what you recently did, cancel and move to YTTV year round. Wondering how the return process went for you. Do they still send you shipping boxes to return the equipment? Did you have to pay shipping for returning receivers? Any issues with getting credit for the returned equipment?

Glad it works for your house.....but YTTV still has no RSN's....No local baseball, basketball, hockey. Directv isn't for everybody, but as a comparison, we also live in rural Colorado, our DTV package includes the Rockies, Nuggets, and Avalanche, also a movie pkg(Starz) and NHL Center Ice...all for $105 a month with the yearly discounts we get. Still happy here..

Couldn't care less about RSN's. YTTV already has tons of sports. 11 sports channels plus a pay for "sports pkg", along with MLB, NBA, etc. I would anticipate that with ST available, they'll offer other sports networks as well. Not an issue for me. Long as I can watch my Steelers on ST. Yes, I have had many others tell me they can't believe I was paying that much for DirecTV. A few months ago I posted a copy of my bill summary on these forums and jaws dropped on the doubters. I don't want a service where lower rates depend upon me *****ing to them about the cost. Even dropping from the Xtra pkg down to the next level only saved $20/mo and we would lose the channels we usually watched. So glad to be done with DirecTV. I wanted to drop them years ago but my wife wouldn't let me because of ST. Now she's well versed in YTTV and doesn't miss DTV at all.

The NFL could have still given D* and option similar to how NHL CI went to ESPN+ but still an option on D*

The ONLY real downside to watching sports on a streaming service is that it's not quite "live" but always somewhere between 30-60 seconds behind. Not a bit deal in most cases, but I had to turn off my sports app notifications or else get spoiled. Not ideal if you do prop bets I'm sure (I don't).

Because they would not get anywhere close to the amount of money that they did get if they sold it as a non-exclusive.

And that's great if you are Mets fan. if you root for any other local team, you are SOL. No YES Network for the Yankees, no MSG for any of the local hockey or basketball games, no pre and post game coverage of the Giants. So that makes YTTV no bueno for me. At least DirecTV Stream has those (and is really the only option for NY sports fans who watch anything besides the Mets.

Do you consider that for 18 years they slapped the face of everyone who couldn't get a dish? How is this different outside of YOU not being able to get it anymore (at least until the broadband in your are works as it's supposed to).

Total disrespect to those who wanted to watch but couldn't for 18 years because they lived in an apartment on in a house that has no line of sight for a DISH (which are far more than have poor broadband).
