The post I was replying to was asking about after DirecTV is gone what would you do without broadband.
DIRECTV isn’t going anywhere as far as I know. It’s going to be around for a long time. I would like to know why you think DIRECTV would be "gone"? They still serve well over 13 Million Customers.

No, out of the 13-14 million reported, 1.5 million are DirecTV Stream subs and 2-3 million are uverse subscribers that are hanging on, a lot in multi-dwellings.

I’m still gonna have DIRECTV. I just won’t pay to stream an NFL Package knowing My System will buffer the game. I’m not going to do it.
This sounds like a pout from a five (or 85) year old; especially since next season is almost a year away and you haven't even had a chance to test the product.

To everyone else, me included: We know Rob's internet stinks.
To Roger Goodell: Can you please tell us where ST is going next year, so we can blowtorch this thread?
I can agree with that 👍👍👍👍

The NFL is kinda doing everyone a disservice by making us wait to see who will actually have Sunday Ticket next year. Usually they will announce something but I am going to predict there isn’t a service that has secured it yet because of the price tag. It’s very expensive. And with that price tag comes the price that anyone who wants it will have to pay. It is my understanding whoever gets it will not be able to offer discounts. You will be paying the $300 price for it in full next year.

It’s probably better they don’t announce it now (or didn’t the last couple months). There’d be a million people flooding Apple CSR’s wondering why it’s not showing up for the 2022 season. The general public can easily get confused on small but important details.

Usually they will announce something ...
When was the last time they had to announce who was carrying NFL ST when it was not a renewal? 1994 when DIRECTV started carrying the service mid season? How can they "usually" announce anything when it has only been announce once before and in the prior century?

Renewals are good and announcing that there will be eight more years of partnership before the current term ends does no harm to the current rights holder nor does it cause customer confusion by advertising a product through one provider while another provider still has a long time remaining on their exclusive contract.

I did notice yesterday that Red Zone on the streaming app on the ATV was about 30 seconds behind Redzone on satellite. Of course when it is gone from satellite no one will have it to compare to streaming.

There is still NFL Network Red Zone (available via DISH and cable services). Has anyone ever compared "lag time" between the Sunday Ticket version and the "everybody else" version?

Same. I have the current streaming version. I was getting fantasy alerts on my phone just prior to the play actually happening while watching the game (I was watching the actual game and not Red Zone).

I used to have that problem. Eventually, the local cable company came through and gave me an alternative to noisy phone lines. Now I have 87 down and 12 up.

I hope that you're at least trying to address your broadband issue rather than just whining about it.

I understand where you are coming from here. I am skeptical about it myself as the last 4 years of any NFL game that required streaming for me had issues. Internet plan is 300 meg down and not really an issue. I hope its sorted out but if history has shown me anything, its that the NFL is NOT ready to a streaming exclusive platform for their live games. I hope that has changed but I would have to see it for myself. I guess in some ways the Thursday games this year will show us if we should even attempt a streaming option for Sunday Ticket next year.

It is important to understand that it isn't the NFL that is doing the heavy lifting. They're just collecting their payments. If the streaming product isn't any good, DIRECTV (or one of their agents) seems the likely culprit.

How would DIRECTV (satellite) be the culprit if a streaming product is not any good?
