Short Cuts is pretty much a full game broadcast, dependent upon what you consider a "full game rebroadcast." I've used it several times through a week to get caught up on games I didn't get to see much of during a Sunday early/late window.

For a lot of people on this thread, I honestly get it. They know a system (DVR functionality, etc.) and the idea of moving away from a system they're familiar with isn't a comfortable feeling. It's not likely going to be the same, but I'm still a believer that Sunday Ticket will be a solid product moving forward in a streaming world.
As one of the ones not looking forward to this, I get it too - streaming is coming and it probably will be a solid product. I'm definitely not anti-new tech (I've been using home PCs since before most of the posters here were born, most likely), and I stream lots of content. I just have been very disappointed in any sports streaming I have done, so I really hope they improve that and keep as much of the current functionality as possible. I'm also hoping that a much wider potential audience means a cheaper price point (not holding my breath), as I doubt there will be the types of discounts many of us are used to calling and begging for every year (I definitely won't miss that process - I have always hated the game of pretending I'm going to cancel just to get a discount, but felt silly paying full price when so many other weren't).

I have actually read articles both online & in newspapers where some people who have went to streaming are actually coming back to Cable & Satellite because not all streaming services offer everything everyone in a household desires to watch. One service like Hulu might offer one kind of programming where another service like an Amazon offers a different set if programming where Cable or Satellite offers it all at one place. So here we are back to square 1. I don’t think Cable or Satellite is going away anytime soon. 20 years from now it will still be around. Even 30 & 40 years it will be. DIRECTV in my opinion has led the way in offering all types of programming all in one convenient package & that is what I like about DIRECTV. And as for me….well I will be on of the very last people to ever give up my DIRECTV service. I have been with the company as my television provider ever since 1997, I have not changed to any other provider since and don’t ever see myself calling them to cancel my service.

I'm not saying they'll cave. What I AM saying is that streamers have been working with leagues to provide whatever blackout rules they want. I see no reason why a streaming service can't work with the NFL (and the networks) to honor whatever system they want to use.
For MLS, Apple got global streaming rights, both in- and out-of market. I would bet that is what they would ask for from the NFL. I would be surprised if that wasn’t what Apple proposed to the NFL, too. Keep in mind about half of MLS owners have MLS ownership interests, too.

Given that the games are produced by the OTA network, assuming in-market, the local ads are kept in place (geofencing should allow this), it’s hard to see how they wouldn’t allow Apple to stream in-market, too. There are advantages and disadvantages to it. Of course, that doesn’t mean they will provide streaming in-market, but it could be done.

Yea thats crazy I'm in VA with MLB EI so don't exactly have that issue . I just have normal blackout isssue so if they playing Nats or Os I have to watch on MASN and listen to the "see u later "guy ...

But back to NFL on a small occasion the local station will change what game they are airing which messes up blackout rules. I think week one last year WVBT choose to air Eagles game instead of Colts game and it was all screwed up . Colts were blackout ... So yea local blackouts can be a mess with all sports

I will be with DirecTV until it is gone! I don't care anything about the Sunday Ticket one way or another.
I think satellite TV’s days are numbered. I just don’t think it’s a small number. My guess is between 3,000 and 5,000. I’m more sure of the upper bound… the birds have about that much life left in them, and no one seems to be motivated to replace them.

As for the lower bound, that depends on whether enough customers remain for the business to be viable. Given past end-of-life issues like MPEG2 and the TiVo DVRs, where people were still using them literally until their last day, I have no doubt that’s still a ways off.

Just so you are forewarned…

Even if they merge it’s not going to change the fleet life. Both companies are losing customers left and right. Clock is ticking
So its impossible for them to have another built? You know their is all kinds of satellites at 22,000 miles away dont you?
Just a reminder your talking about 15,000,000 people right now?

15 million subscribers ... which I would compare to households, not people. Back when DIRECTV was nearing the 25 million subscriber mark they were advertising 50 million people watching. 15 million households is over 10% of all households and 20% of pay TV households. Not bad. Still making billions of dollars in profit.
