Cable penetration of U.S. households hit at 16-year low of 62.1% in November according to an analysis conducted by the Television Bureau of Advertising. Cable penetration a year earlier was 64.8%.
TVB, which represents broadcast networks that compete with cable networks for advertising dollars, said alternate delivery system penetration from services such as DirecTV hit 24.5% in November, up from 20.8% in November 2005.
DBS providers EchoStar and DirecTV penetrate 24% of U.S. homes, up from 20.2% this time last year, according to TVB.
