I have multiple HRXX but only one is plugged into a phone line. They are all wired to the network though. It would be great if the one plugged into the network could broadcast to all the rest of the HRXX the Caller ID data so they could display it too.

HRXX units on the network would probably need a checkbox to "opt in" to caller ID broadcasts from other units.

Would be nice though.

Another enhancement that we already had on our (hacked) Tivos.

However, I do like the idea. I propose it be compatible with ncid ( http://ncid.sourceforge.net/ ) so we can use it on our PC's and with our hacked Tivos.

I would think they would prefer to have them all connected to the internet which this would accomplish.
I think more people have POTS than BB. But, you would not need BB for this to work... In fact... Well I was going to say D* could take advantage of networked boxes as long as one has a phone line connected... And all the boxes could share that connection... But if you don't have a reason to have a network in the first place, running phone lines is still going to make more sense than running Cat-5.

Funny, many many years ago I actually worked on a modem sharing application, but that was across a backplane in an embedded application, but it would not be that hard across a network. Wow, had not thought about that in years...
