Caller ID

I thought I'd share this with all who are having the "Caller ID" issue. With all the updates lately, I just "Re-started" the recorder ever time I received the "You must scribe..." message. more than twice, works every time. Caller ID resets and returns to working as designed. I know it's a pain but if you ever had it working, even sporadicly, it might work for you too.:)

I've got caller id on my phone service, set to on on my HR20, and I don't see anything on the TV when I get calls. Can someone help me out with this?

Yes, the phone line is hooked into the HR20

Have you gone into your menu to turn it on?

Mine started working on it's own two days after I cleared the list - but perhaps there may have been a reboot in that time. Humm???
:D

I am not going to dump my guide data to make my caller ID work. Contrary to what has been reported here, every time I have had to reboot and dump guide data my HR20 has cancelled or missed recordings for the next few days (weeks?) following.
Sorry to hear that ouijal... I can honestly say I don't have that problem. After the re-start my "prioritizer" and "to do" re-confirms with the "Guide" all my "series links" I have set for that particular day and they record as scheduled...

Yes, it's turned on in the menu.
Hmmm... you said that you have "Notices" turned on under the "Notifications" tab right? Do you have anything recorded in your "CallerID" log? And if so, have you deleted all of them to see if it starts working?
Got notices turned on. Haven't seen anything for that or caller id since I got the box last month.
What does your "CallerID" log have in it? Anything?
Nada.
Tell us what you've tried? Plugged Caller ID phone into outlet? Different phone cord...? ect...
I'll go through all that tomorrow when I'm off. Then I'll report findings. Thanks.
well I have the same issue, and mine has recorded about two caller id logs out of probably 50+ calls. So I don't think that it's all or none, it's definately an issue with the box... Dtv has not given me a fix yet or a call about one. Post here when anyone learns more... thanks
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

I plugged a phone into the phone line leading into the HR20 and it's getting a dial tone, so it's working properly. Everything is turned on in the menu.

Guess it might work in the future. Not that big a deal. Looked like a nice feature to have.
The original update my HR20 had 0xeb worked fine, and has worked fine so far up to 0xfa.
