Summer tree growth has caused me to lose signal completely from 119. Is there any way to fool the receiver into thinking I have a 3 lnb setup without having to remove the 5 lnb unit itself and replace it with the 99/101/103 3 lnb? For instance, could I cover up the 110/119 lnb's or will the receiver still "know" it is attached to a 5 lnb unit? Due to having no signal from 119, I am doing a reset every two or three days to update the guide. Because of the enormous size (width and height) of the tree, moving the dish a long distance is not an option. If I have to go with the 3 lnb setup, I will, but I was hoping for a possible work around. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Can I fool H24 w/5 lnb into seeing only 3 lnb (99/101/103)?

No, that won't work. The 3lnb and 5lnb LNBs are electrically different. The 5LNB dish has the guide data from 119 on the 103/110/119 cable pair, so when you tune to a 103 channel the guide comes from 119. Since the 3LNB can't receive 119, it takes the 101 guide data and puts it where the 119 guide data should be.wahooq said:

The OP doesn't have a SWM system or he wouldn't be getting the guide errors in the first place. SWM only pulls guide data from 101.
The simplest workaround is what Davenlr mentioned. Tune to a sd channel as the will come from 101. If you tuned to the right HD channel (one that comes from 99) that would work but you'd have to look up what channels are on 99 and that could change any time directv wanted to.
Replacing the LNB with a SWiMLNB or a SL3 isn't hard if the dish is accessible and they aren't that expensive on ebay. I've swapped from an SL5 to an SL3 to a SL3-SWiM on my own with out problems.
I like to throw out the following image when ever people ask about this because it helps it make sense. This is the SL5 stack plan. No 119 = no guide data when your on a HD channel coming from 103. Changing the setting on the receiver to tell it that it's on a SL3 doesn't help because it still can't find what isn't there.

The quick workaround suggested has issues also. Since on a DVR only tuner 1 takes guide data, you have to be sure that tuner 1 is tuned to a channel from 101. That means setting one tuner to a 101 channel, and setting the other tuner to record a 101 channel. More effective, set two short recordings for the early hours of the morning, for the same time and for channels from 101. Then both tuners will go to 101.
