I'm a long time DirecTV customer that recently went HD. My dish was upgraded from an 3 LNB model to a Slimline 5.
When the 3 LNB was installed, I was a "victim" of a late year install. The installer put the dish up even though 110 and 119 were actually right through some trees on the west edge of my property. Things were fine until spring came and then I lost signal to those sats completely. It wasn't that big of a deal, about the only thing I would miss that I ever watched was the NASA channel.
This June I had an installer put up a Slimline 5 after much begging (read: cash money
) and promises that I would not call DirecTV about any signal problems related to not seeing 110/119. From reading here I knew things would work out eventually with D11 going live and you guys certainly didn't let me down.
Now, onto my question. Whenever I need to reboot my DirecTiVos they take forever to boot up since they are searching for 110 & 119. Since they are essentially being "lied" to anyway by being set for the 3 LNB dish setting, is there a reason why I can't just tell them they are connected to a single LNB dish? Will they then just ignore every other sat than 101? Will this help with my boot times?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
