I live in Florida but spend the summers in upstate New York. I brought my receiver with me to use here. I bought a 1000.2 dish online but was later told I need dish 1000.4 . I had the 1000.2 dish hooked up by a dealer here in New York but can only get some of the channels and no HD channels. What can I do?

To correctly use the 1000.2 you would need to aim at the satellites at 110/119/129. 129 is the satellite that has most of the HD channels, it is also the lowest on the horizon and from the East coast can be hard to get.

The 1000.4 looks at the Eastern Arc 61.5/72.7/77, 61.5 & 72.7 have most of the channels for the eastern arc. The 1000.2 can be aimed for 61.5 & 72.7 using the LNBs for 110 &119 it won't get the highest possible signals but it can work.:):):)

NY has a low los for 129. You may be able to get it given the right circumstance, but it is very iffy. Also, if you changed your service address, your HD locals in NY are on EA not the WA that 129 is a part of.

Get the right dish for where you are ... the 1000.4.
DISH allows snowbird accounts, changing your address between Florida and New York as you change homes is possible. But you have to be able to pick up the right satellites for the location you're in.

As the others have said, the 1000.4 is needed for the Eastern Arc installation. 1000.2 is used for the Western Arc. I suggest contacting the retailer to see if they will exchange the 1000.2 for the 1000.4 dish. Thanks.
