Question - I have noticed that my Sony X90J TV will turn on the Directv box, but when I turn off the Sony TV, the DirecTV box wont turn "off" (blue lights stay on). I've got the setting for HDMI control turned on for DTV box, and all of the settings on the TV are turned on (power on and power off compatible HDMI devices). Any thoughts?

What happens when you turn off the DIRECTV box first?

I can't explain why turning off the display wouldn't put the source in standby unless it is related to using computers as sources.

Keep it that way, it's simple, your DTV box is constantly ready produce video/audio when you'll turn TV on and taking practically SAME amount of energy if it's "off",

are there any known issues with the HDMI-CEC on the HR44-500 boxes? Trying to figure out why the TV can't turn the box off

You would have to ask Sony why they don't send a standby signal. Only they know what elements of CEC that they've implemented.

Knowing why isn't going to change the behavior.
