Can only receive a few channels over my HR22-100

Is it a obstruction issue or LNB(s) failing or something else. I can get some channels in the low to mid 200's and thats about it, the rest are just a black screen with the progess bar at the bottom saying "searching for signal..."

I was installed 4 years ago and now a neighbors tree might (I stress might) be growing into my line of sight, but not fully. Maybe just a branch or two at this point. But is that enough to degrade the reception to allow just a few channels to be pulled in? And its not all the time. Sometimes I get all channels, other times its searching for signal with only a few channels tuning in.

I have a standard def box that pulls in all channels all the time, no problem. Its a newish setup with a slimline dish/swm and I did just replace the switch (2-2150mHz) so it's not that. I don't buy DTV's insurance so they want $75 to come out. I'm tech savy enough to handle the situation if I can narrow down what it might be...exactly.

Any ideas?

Look at the SAT signal levels in the setup menu. That should give you some idea.
If not then post the multi-screen data here and someone can tell you.
What "switch" did you replace? And with what?

I think he means "splitter," as in a SWiM one.

Many here keep referring to splitter as a "switch," and I agree it causes confusion at times when trying to understand their setup to help them.
And what model Receiver/DVR do you have?

Please post back with your signal readings for each satellite's transponders (and both tuners if applicable). You'll find these readings under "Menu" -> "Setup" -> "System Setup" -> Satellite -> "View Signal Strength". Note the "+" and "-" symbols next to the "Satellite" and "Tuner" entries where you can toggle the readings between the various satellites and both DVR tuners.

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner using these examples. A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):

It's a HR22-100 like the thread title states. Yes, replaced the splitter (not switch, thank you) with stock Directv splitter. I've looked at the signal strength screen and most all are mid 90's with only a couple in the high 80's and yes, a couple read zero.

I work crazy weekday hours and not with or near a computer so not much time to respond but I appreciate all of your responses so far. Tonight I have all channels tuning in but tomorrow, who knows.

When you get to the "who knows" time and are having missing channels, recheck the signal screens and see if anything has changed.
Splitters rarely go bad, so that more than likely didn't do anything, but if it did, it might point to a cable problem.
