I'm a member of a non-commercial local Yahoo group called "FreeCycle", where members offer and ask for items for free by round-robin emails. As with most groups, SPAM isn't permitted, but now, with the increased usage of smartphones, we're seeing more and more emails with sigs like "Sent from my Blackberry powered by Verizon", which has been objected by some members including me, as the equivalent of spam.

My questions are, do smartphone users have the option of deleting, changing or suppressing the sig, and if so, how? Or, are these spam-type self promos 'hardwired' into the phone and are unremoveable?

Any info on this issue will be appreciated.
