CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG...
I would like to add Can't we get a DVR which records and plays all shows consistently?
Amen. It seems like every few hours some ranter starts a thread and the insult parade begins, the jabs exchange, and the thread (finally) gets closed. The moderators must be getting quite sick of all this too.houskamp said:Can we just get back to trying to help each other? That is what I thought this forum was for..:nono2:
I completely agree. These BS threads where the people who have basically working units try to suggest that the people whose units are basically broken toasters are trouble makers for posting about it are getting old...houskamp said:Can we just get back to trying to help each other? I too am getting sick of only seeing people ranting about how the HR-20 is a piece of ****. We all know there are issues, personally, mine works well enough for me not to complain, I know that there are others that don't but what purpose is all this ranting serving, it certainly isn't going to get the problems fixed any faster.houskamp said:Can we just get back to trying to help each other? so you DO admit its not delivering on its promises.jstaffin said:I too am getting sick of only seeing people ranting about how the HR-20 is a piece of ****. We all know there are issues
good for you. that does not, however, mean that others also are guaranteed to get your level of operability with this defective (by design) product.personally, mine works well enough for me not to complain,
it does serve a purpose. two, actually. there's the emotional relief that we all need when so much frustration bottles up. then there's the real value of complaining IN PUBLIC about a really poorly done product that was released to the public about 6mos too soon (if not more).I know that there are others that don't but what purpose is all this ranting serving, it certainly isn't going to get the problems fixed any faster.
if you are wanting a place to vent and let your voice be heard by D*.... rant in their forums.linuxworks said:DTV does 'deserve' to constantly hear about our troubles. they are the CAUSE of it, afterall.
I have to agree with you, but: I've started to make a post & before I "submit" I review & find I can skip it & have still gotten it out of my system.linuxworks said:so you DO admit its not delivering on its promises.

keeping the complaint level going IS useful as its a form of civil disobedience (sort of). its one of the only ways to voice our opinion and let potential customers (and the DTV staff, themselves) know without a shadow of doubt how really BAD this whole rollout was. ;(
you can easily skip threads you don't want to read. I would not argue to have threads killed or suppressed - I do find that they serve a useful purpose as long as they don't get personal or abusive.
DTV does 'deserve' to constantly hear about our troubles. they are the CAUSE of it, afterall.
So, So true. I do this all the time. You get the good feeling of saying your peace, without the ill-will of actually saying out loud.veryoldschool said:I've started to make a post & before I "submit" I review & find I can skip it & have still gotten it out of my system.
there's enough bits on the ethere for both kinds of threads, no?byron said:if you are wanting a place to vent and let your voice be heard by D*.... rant in their forums.

i would prefer that this place be more targeted to helping people and having technical discussions as opposed to people blowing off steam about how much they hate their HR20.
There is a constructive way to make a statement or a destructive way to make a statement. I think the POS rants serve only to soothe the person making the rant, and in many cases it doesn't even serve that purpose. You'll find plenty of "not working" comments on this board. I've been shouting out about the Spontaneous Reboots since 0x115 myself. If this site devolved into simple ranting, be assured that it would lose it's appeal.linuxworks said:I am lothe to limiting free speech. its easy enough to skip threads you don't want to read. but telling others they can't post valid complaints seems to harsh a way to run a forum, to me.
To me: HR20 is a POS is not a valid complaintvalid compalints

Who doesn't? Even though my HR20 so far has done pretty good it's pretty clear there are problems. I don't think anyone says that their aren't problems.linuxworks said:so you DO admit its not delivering on its promises.
I would even go as far as to say... "Here! Here! :grin:veryoldschool said:Hear Hear!
