I already have the AT9 dish installed and just wanted to know if I buy an HR20 can I call DirecTV myself to activate it? Or can it be activated on their web site? Thanks.

Unless something has changed recently, the Advance Receivers haven't been able to
be activated online for a while.

Yes, you can call them and activate it.

I had one HR20 installed by D* on saturday then I went to CC and got the other one and installed it myself. Called and no problems.

Calling in to activate is no problem. I got an HR20 from Value Electronics a few weeks ago and activated just fine. Just need to make sure the CSR understands it's the HR20 and not an H20.

Thanks all. I was just wondering because I see so many threads about having installs scheduled. I suppose that is mainly for when someone needs a new dish. Personally I don't want anyone touching my A/V equipment.
