My installer put the multi-switch outside and I'm kind of concerned about it. It would be almost impossible to have the 4 satellite lines going to it and have the 6 lines to the 3 DVR's we have, but it would be easy to have the 2 lines from the satellite going to one of the DVR's and the other 2 lines going the Zinwell inside the house and the 4 lines going to the 2 DVR's in our living room. Would that work, or do you need all 4 satellite inputs in the Zinwell in order to have more outputs.

Thanks.

There are 4 different combinations of signals that the dish can emit. The multiswitch needs all 4 cables so it can "lock" onto each one. Then the receivers connected to the multiswitch can request any of the 4 signals and receive the correct information.

Thanks all. I assumed so, but just wanted to make sure. Now I need to find a way to weather proof the switch, but hopefully I won't need it for very long. I will only need it until the HR20 becomes stable and I can get rid of my R10 backup.
