Canceling service will not commit you to anything. Getting "a better offer" usually does require a commitment of some sort. Getting treated as a "born again virgin" may require a hiatus of up to 12 months.Gone2Maui said:

I would suggest that you sit tight the way you are (assuming you're not going to move until the house is sold) and downgrade if you need to reduce costs. It may sound like heresy, but it is the best way to cut down on the monthly bill.
