For the third time Directv canceled the installation of my new HD equipment. I just about blew a head gasket. Previously when I had an issue that could not get resolved someone sent me the e-mail address of the Office of the President.

Could someone send this to me again please via PM?

Note that the issue probably isn't DirecTV themselves, but the installation contractor.
Send a polite (but firm!) email and they'll probably take good care of you.

This is no doubt the reason that DirecTV is starting the "in-sourcing" move - so they have more direct control over what happens at the point of customer contact....

Yes it was the install company. While on the phone with them and the D* CSR I asked the D* CSR to disconnect me from the install company. I just about canceled my account right then and there. If they could bump me whey couldn't they bump someone else. This is exactly why I held off getting the upgrade for so long.

I just sent an e-mail to the Office of the President for help and was very cordial. This can all be resolved by just sending me the receiver. I have installed them numerous times.

If this install if for your PR, LA location, note that thanks to our newest Governor or the last one, cable TV and sat installers no longer need to be licensed, IE Ex-fema workers will be hanging your dish, best of luck and watch them like a hawk.

FWIW-long time Nawlins boy here, after 35 years in Slidell, the new katrian crowd there ran me out about a month ago to picayune, last friday after 1 cancel i got my Dish network HD installed, somewhat, its all good except he didn't ground my system

Don't feel so bad, I was just stood up for the 3rd time and all I need is someone to realign the dish.

Someone was suppose to be here again today between 12 and 4 and here it is 8:10 and not a single word. We did have some rain today but that wasn't until 7:30.

I just called DirecTV and am now being told the next available date is August 24th.

My Directv account now shows the install will be today between 8 AM and Noon.

Not holding my breath on this one.

Get a friend to help you align your dish. The D* installers stink, they most likely will not get it right. Use two cells phone with one person watching the receiver signal meter. Better yet I used NetMeeting with a webcam and brought a laptop on the roof.

Sorry to hear about the 3 times the installer couldn't complete their job. 3 times is nothing.. I had Ironwood onsite 6 times (YES 6 times!!!) to properly ground my system after it was left ungrounded during the original slimline/HD install.

Each time, Ironwood (out of Carlisle, PA) would send a different tech who had no clue what the National Electric Code (NEC) was and what it required for grounding satellite TV systems. The local area abides by the 2006 NEC, which required grounding, yet the DirecTV Professional Installation Agreement states that the system will be grounded per local/NEC guidelines. D*/Ironwood violated this agreement by not fulfilling their end of the deal until 6 service calls later.

I missed work 6 times since I had to be home so that they could ground the dish on the exterior of my home, and 5 of those times the guy showed up and left within 2 minutes. No appologies and no credits for programming due to the non-sense and loss of work pay.

Ultimately, DirecTV is responsible: for the decision to contract the work out, who they choose to subcontract work to, and with the QC involved with that choice.
