Sometime recently(0xfa coincides, perhaps) I lost the ability to create new series links. If it click record twice on something in the future in guide, it simply marks it record then removes that record mark.

If I try to create a link on something currently recording, it just tells me "Keep recording, stop recording and keep, stop recording and delete".

I have 26 Series links currently.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

1) Reboot

2) Double check to make sure that it is not already in your prioritizer

3) Try to set the Series Link from the Record Menu instead of the Guide

Rebooted already - no change (reboot from setup menu)

Not in prioritizer

Record Menu and also searching by title has the same problem.

Any other ideas?

Have you hit 50 entries in the Prioritizer?

I decided I wanted to try and catch up on "Heroes" last night. I set up a series link for the show in the early evening by going to next Monday's show and hitting record twice. It didn't show the series record icon, but it didn't turn off the record icon either.

I checked the information on the show and it had a series link tab on it. I then set the option to record "both" for first runs and repeats. Realized a little later they were running a "Heroes" mini-marathon on Sci-fi so I looked at it to see if it was recording. Nope, nothing. So I manually recorded them as well. Shouldn't the series link have caught those as well? Or does the series link only work on the same station?

If you have rebooted it may take up to 24 hours (or even more) for the guide to fully repopulate, which may be why you can't set an SL.

I experience same problem yesterday while I was moving all my SL for CW to new KTLA-DT channel I got.

It worked fine for previous times. I only have 19 series link at the moment.

Only way to make series link work for me was this way:

1. Search for the show from quick guide from blue button
2. click on info and select more info
3. Record -> Series Link

If I do double click record button, series link didn't get populated at all.
I thought it was very odd.

I have the same issue. I have tried the suggestions, but it doesn't accept the double record push. It was fine before the last update.
I was wrong. Enterprise was still in the Prioritizer, though set to record nothing---have no clue why. I finally figured out how to delete it, then went back to the program guide where it finally accepted the double push for a Series Link.

I'll know Monday at 9 how successful this is!

So barring any kind of magical update in the future - it sounds like I am screwed. Does anyone know of anything I should be aware of before I perform a full reset?

Thanks

Why is there a limit to the number of series links?

I hit 50 today, and I had to delete a few to add some I thought were more important.
No reason, other then is a limit DirecTV put into the system.

Does that mean that we'll see an increase in the future? Can this be a user setting? I have around 60-65 Season Passes/Wishlist items in my other three DVRs and obviously that limits the functionality of the HR20 for my needs.

If this number was arbitrarily decided why don't they arbitrarily set it to a higher number?

It is possible it will be increased in the future.
It probably will never be a "user setting", as it wouldn't make sense for a user to set a limit for something they control in the first place.

As for why? No idea.

I'm just wondering how in world someone could watch more than 50 shows? I have about a dozen in my prioritizer and I'm already two weeks behind on "House". Man....

Series Links magically reappeared 11 days after receiving 0xfa

Earl - is this a bug? I know they designed it so you have to wait for guide data to update, but 11 days seems excessive :)
