Can't remember the Protection Plan but am wondering WILL DIRECTV replace my BIG round dish,10 foot pole, (cannot be removed its 4 ft in ground with 10 lbs cement ,

also due to multiple disabilities, cannot reach or take dish sown,

Can you look at your last bill?
If you have the protection plan, you'll see a charge on there for it.

For what reason do you want the dish replaced?
Is something physically wrong with it?
Or is it maybe out of alignment?

Or do you just have SD receivers and your thinking about getting some new HD receivers?

Going by the title of the thread, he's asking about replacement due to hurricane damage.

My guess is "yes". Other "acts of God" are, like lightning damage, so I doubt they would have an exclusion for a hurricane or even just high wind.

Ya generally acts of god are not covered, but D* has always taken care of hurricane customers for the most part.

Just make sure you have a house, power, etc before calling them, and good luck (with the weather, not the D* service).

If at all possible, try to have someone unbolt the reflector (4 bolts) and take it inside. When the storm passes, 4 bolts puts the reflector right back on and you're good to go.

They should cover you. But yes, check your bill to make sure your on the protection plan or give them a call and check. If you don't have it then sign up for it because being disabled I think it's a good deal.

If you can find a friend to bring the dish in for you that would be the best thing to do.

I'm pretty sure that this would cover hurricanes.

Re-alignment after successful installation is in the coverage. Replacement due to poor installation would be covered. So, I think you're covered for average storms, but maybe no hurricanes. Sure seems like a grey area in the contract, but I'm not a lawyer.

Incidental/Consequential damages are generally defined as damages resulting from the original problem.

For instance: If you were a tv reviewer and your dish flew off they wouldn't cover lost income from not being able to do your job.
If the dish breaks free and goes through a window they probably won't cover the window repair. Think about damages incurred one step down the "chain".

Today on the Hurricane Channel (361) they had a slide that said "If your dish needs to be re-aligned or replaced as a result of the hurricane, please call 1-800-531-5000."

It didn't say it would be free, but it sounds like they are ready to replace dishes.

We had high winds 80 mph+ back in march after a NOREASTER and my slimline got knocked out and the pp covered me

345am, 9/13/2008 wind woke me up dish,pole, ect with stood 50- with gusts to 75 MPH wind & rain & didn't loose either electricity or tv signal at all hurricane out ouf our area right now,

reoly from Directv was recieved if you have protection plan & dish going flying off during hurricane, call Directv A.S.A.P. and they will replace it. no problem.
