Look for that in the CBS deal later this year. Two different companies.

In the begining there was CBS. CBS owned the syndication rights to most shows that were on CBS, which it sold under the name CBS Films. In 1971 the FCC passed a rule that said networks had to get out of the syndication business, so they spun the company off as Viacom. Viacom operated as a totally seperate company, buying, among other things, NBC (Worldvision) and ABC (Republic) 's spun off syndication arms, lots of TV stations, and other stuff.

Viacom came to own a group of "cable" channels it organized as "MTV Networks".

In 1993, Viacom bought Paramount Pictures.

In 1999, Viacom bought CBS (which at the time included several "cable" channels such as TNN (Spike) and CMT).

In 2005, Viacom split into two companies. The company we now call "CBS Corporation" owns CBS, 50% of CW, CBS Radio (which has no historic roots to the pre-TV era CBS Radio), CBS Sports Network, and some book publishing and billboard companies. The company we now call "Viacom" owns Paramount Pictures and the channels that were the subject of the recent p***ing contest, and some smaller assets.

In short, CBS and Viacom are totally seperate and nothing in this deal will affect CBS or CW in any way.
