CC Display

I just got off the phone with DTV re closed captioning issues. (Had to reset receiver to turn cc back on). On the options for display it gives the choice of background box, I chose transparent (that is my preference, works great on my tv with ota hd channels. ) It works only occasionally, most of the time it displays a solid black box behind the lettering. I asked the guy why this is happening (sometimes switches displays in the middle of the same show) He said the new software upgrade was causing this. I don't believe him. Anybody have experience with this option, any info would be greatly appreciated.

CC is in a pretty primitive state at this point on the HR20. It's going to take a few fixes before it is "ready for prime time". The least of one's worries is about the background and transparency...it doesn't work worth a darn in terms of accuracy, flow or usability ...yet.

If I were dependent on CC with this box, I'd be VERY, VERY disappointed. I've checked CC on every release, comparing SD locals to OTA locals...and the CC'ing of the HR20 is just awful at this point. (and has only improved a little bit...well...that might not be fair...it was so terrible, that when it actually worked a little bit, that was a MAJOR improvement :hurah:

I'll keep checking...I'm only interested from a geeky technical point of view, I really have no use for it, but empathize with those who do really need it and have to put up with the pathetic state it's in right now.
