So, I just got off the phone with Suzy in the VPs office for customer relatioins after an email was forwarded to [email protected] re: Time Warner in NY offering to buy Dish Network customer equipment to convert. I just wanted to give them a "heads up" and get an update on where it stands. We discussed the YES network status and she informed me that negotiations were dead. If what she says is true, YES is asking Dish to pay $1.82 for EVERY Dish subsciber, not just those who can get the channel. I (even as a NYer and Yankee fan) find it unreasonable if it's true.
We then talked about Personal TV as I have two. I mentioned that from a business perspective, they pay quite a bit to support these devices and should just outright offer the current owners a better deal to upgrade to 501s rather than the standard $199 deal. She offered me two for $99 each. Much more reasonable.
She was a great help, called very quickly (on Sunday nonetheless) and was able to be a decision point to help.
Kudos to Dish for setting up this contact point.
Let's all keep it secret though so they don't lose their ability to help in lieu of volume.....
