So, I just got off the phone with Suzy in the VPs office for customer relatioins after an email was forwarded to [email protected] re: Time Warner in NY offering to buy Dish Network customer equipment to convert. I just wanted to give them a "heads up" and get an update on where it stands. We discussed the YES network status and she informed me that negotiations were dead. If what she says is true, YES is asking Dish to pay $1.82 for EVERY Dish subsciber, not just those who can get the channel. I (even as a NYer and Yankee fan) find it unreasonable if it's true.

We then talked about Personal TV as I have two. I mentioned that from a business perspective, they pay quite a bit to support these devices and should just outright offer the current owners a better deal to upgrade to 501s rather than the standard $199 deal. She offered me two for $99 each. Much more reasonable.

She was a great help, called very quickly (on Sunday nonetheless) and was able to be a decision point to help.

Kudos to Dish for setting up this contact point.

Let's all keep it secret though so they don't lose their ability to help in lieu of volume.....

Good for you! I have also had good luck when using [email protected]. If it's an "elevated" issue, they are usually very good about calling me within a day or two. If course being an administrator to a DBS board helps. :)

lol. I usually just email that name to request channels, and I don't get anything back. I have faith that the National College Sports Network will be added this coming year because it seems Dish had a relatively easy time negotiating a contract for the old Classic Sports Network. Let's hope.

I E-mailed that address & complained about Dishplayer & I asked how to buy a 501 PVR. The next day I got an E-mail from a man who must be in upper managment, who said he could get me a 501 for $99 if I e-mailed him my account & set up an install. So I did. The install is on August 3rd.
