Hello I've with Directv about 4 yrs now and love the product never had any problems at all. My question is I have 1-HR23-700 1-H23-700 and 1-H21-200 and 2 SD units with Wireless Directv Cinema and Whole House DVR I would like to get a HR24-500 and send back my 2 sd units what would be the best way to try and get a HR24 we are not under any contract and I would sign another 2 yr contract.
Thank you

www.solidsignal.com will be your best assurance of getting a HR24.
Does that mean to purchase it or do they do upgrades?

Purchase.
You would have to purchase (lease) it.

D* will upgrade your SD receivers to an HD-DVR, but there's no guarantee of receiving an HR24 - you might receive an HR20, HR21, HR22, HR23, or HR24.
Will they upgrade both SD or just one and do you think they will charge me.
Your best bet is to ask for a discount on an HR-34. Otherwise it will be pot luck and chances are you will get a refurbished unit.
Definitely get the HR34.. That way you are sure that you have the latest technology for a while =]
Must not be a good customer They offer me the HR34 for 349$ and a 49 install fee and the same deal on a hd dvr maybe get a hr24 they didnt know. I guess its time Been with them over 4 yrs.

Try saying cancel twice on the automated system.. Then say you would like to know if they pick up the boxes, or you have to pay or mail. They will ask you why.. Just tell them you are getting a free Hopper on Dish and free installation and unless they give you a discount on the HR34 you are leaving.
If the CSR doesn't help you, just tell them you will call dish to ask when is their first installation day and then you will call back to tell them what day you want to cancel.. It work for me after 5 or 6 failed calls
By all means call and talk with Retention and see if they can give you a better deal.

But I wouldn't tell them you're leaving unless you actually mean it.

It took me 5 calls to get the HR34 for $159 installed.
Well looks like Dish here I come stayed on hold for 20 min and still got the $349 deal how can this be it just doesnt make sence. Oh well everything happens for a reason. So where does that $349 go if you dont own the HR34? What a joke.

I'll give it a couple more calls.. I don't think anyone got it on the first or second call. I read that someone advise you not to say u are leaving, but that didn't work for me. I told the, I was going to call back once I had the installation day for Dish so I could know what day I wanted it canceled.. Until the CSR stopped me and found a way to give me a better deal. Don't call on the weekends by the way, I called a weekday in the morning. I worked in a call center when I was in college, and once you have been yelled or treated rudely for the whole day, you don't really wanna go the extra mile for the customer.
If your not on contract now, are they offering you anything on their homepage? Sign in and see if there is an offer of some sort.
Just a thought.
No contract. and yes they offer me the HR34 FOR 349$ AND 49$ Install great deal when me bill is $175mo and I get center ice every year thats300$ . I'll try one more time in the morning hey I would be happy with 249$ and me install I dont think thats asking to much. if not I'll call DISH NETWORK why not.
