Okay. Firstly, I have the HD package, and I notice things on Channel 95 from time to time, like tonight. However, whenever I go to that channel, I get "Channel Not Purchased."

What's the deal with that? I'd call DTV and ask, but they wanted to charge me five bucks just for a question.

Channel 95 is used for various HD sports events. Some of these are available to everyone while others require subscription to Center Ice, Extra Innings, League Pass, etc.

Charge you $5 for the question?
What did you ask?

Channel 95 is pretty much the HD potpourri.... HD special events (Which is mostly sports related) and HD-PPV channel

Actually, Earl, the HD PPV channel is 99, not 95.

Hmm... I wonder why I got MI3 in HD (at least the first 5 minutes of it), after the Thursday Night football game.

Eithe way, 95 is just an HD-potpourri

I didn't ask anything if it was going to charge me.

Is this some new deal they have? The automated system said it would charge me $1 to try and have the automated system answer my question, or $5 to have an operator assist me. I just hung up.

I had that happen when I called from a pay phone.

Were you calling from home Adam?

Yup, totally. I was calling from the number on the account, too. Here's how it went down:

I got the automated thing, and it said to state simply what I wanted. Not wanting to screw around with the automated thing I said, "Give me an operator." It said, "Before I transfer you to an operator, please describe your issue" or something. And I said, "I want to know about Channel 95." It said something like, "I can answer that question for you through the automated system for one dollar. Or, an operator can assist you for five dollars." So I hung up.

What customer service.

Oh good God.

"Or, an operator can assist you for five dollars" means that if you were wanting to order a PPV via a CSR it would be an extra $5 or if the IVR ordered it it would be an extra $1. D* has never charged to talk to a CSR about billing or technical issues, and I don't think they ever will.

Channel 95 sometimes has listings for PPV items. It seems it sometimes shares bandwidth with Channel 99 or has some overflow stuff. Hard to tell what is going on since the EPG is not kept up to date as far out in time as the EPG goes.

it's also the channel that shows the NFL game that is televised by the NFL network...the game on 95 is the HD version of it since the NFL Network (212) is not in HD...

you only get it if you subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket AND the Super Fan option...

Earl, when the NFL Network shows a game in HD, why doesn't D* map the HD feed to channel 212, so that HD boxes get the HD feed and SD boxes get the SD feed, like they do with channel 101? :)

but then if you don't subscribe to the Super Fan, you would still get the game in HD...I don't think they want that!

Nope, everyone with an HD system gets it. You don't even need the HD package.

Yeah, I don't know where people get that from. Sunday Ticket games are on Sunday, not Thursday or Saturday. If the NFL Network, ch. 212, is part of your TC package and you have HD equipment, you get the HD feed of the games on ch. 95. The only exception would be if you happen to be in the home market of one of the two teams playing, but then it would be on one of your local affiliates.

It depends on the blackout. Here in KC, we had it on both Fox and Ch. 95.
