Cheapest route for 2 HD's

Hey guys, I'm new here and am seeking a few answers. Right now I have a 722 receiver with the "Silver" turbo HD package, att200, a couple of premiums and plat HD. Times are hard and I was considering going to one of the all-HD packages and scrapping my aging 31" GE crt TV in my front room for a 32" HDTV. This move would get me all the HD channels and basically pay for the TV in Dish programming savings over a year or so if I drop my SD package. Right now I have a VIP 722 receiver and understand it will not output HD on the second TV. What are my best options here as far as Dish receivers? I would like to retain DVR in at least one room. Am I looking at more equipment lease fees? Any other "surprise" fees? I think I also currently pay the 722 "insurance" fee or whatever they call it.

Keep the old TV, keep it hooked up to the 722 on tv2, in feb when you are allowed to go to an all HD package do it, you will get all of those HD channels downrezzed on that old tv just like they are now, the only difference is that the SD counterparts will not be there in an HD only package. Until 2-1-09 there is no HD only package for exsisting customers anyways.
Right now, the only way to make your bill any cheaper is to drop some of your programming. In feb. you should be eligible to swith to a HD only package which, at that time if you wanted to add another HDTV you could then add a new HD receiver, which would increase your bill by $7 dollars per month but, with the price drop for going to HD only you would most likely see some overall savings. Since you are not eligible for an HD only package until 2-1-09 I would wait till then to make a move. Also price increases take place in feb. so you really would have to wait until those are known before anybody could tell you for sure how much cash you will save.

Go to Auto-pay. Get Cinemax for $.1 cent. Drop the other premiums.

Oh I fogot about that one Chinatown good point. Another thing you can do is HBO and STARZ are free for three months right now if you want to renew your 24 month contract. This could get you some good channels and knock your bill down by about 20 bucks for a few months.
I didn't realize I wasn't eligible for an HD only package till Feb. so this definately changes things. Sounds like I'm gonna have to make some decsions here. I just dropped Showtime to pick up Starz because of the numerous Starz HD channels. I hate to drop HBO because we are boxing fans and we already lost Sho-box. I also understand Cinemax will be adding more HD channels too to the lineup so this could save me 11 or 12 a month at least in the interim if I drop Starz. Thanks for the suggestions.
Sounds like times are really tough when you're talking about how
to upgrade to two HDTVs on the cheap. If you really have to ask,
you probably can't afford it.

I'm just sayin...
True dat. I'm just trying to stay around $100 a month for dish and convince my boss (read wife) it's the right move. I really just want an HD in my main room for football. It's all politics and presenation :D. Also, notice I said 32" HDTV, not exactly a bank breaker. So, I'll evaluate my purchases how I see fit, thanks.

You have somewhat of a point Nick but, on the other hand when we are allowed to have the HD only packages we very well may be able to have 2 HDTV's and it be cheaper after you drop SD service. HD is the new standard, it is not only for the rich anymore.
